Fox News hired a new top lawyer as the company’s executive vice president of legal remains on leave after being named in a series of lawsuits. In a press release on Friday, Fox News announced that it had hired Lily Fu Claffee, a former general counsel to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as the network’s new general counsel. “I look forward to embarking on this new and exciting role at an iconic network like FOX News, especially as the media landscape continues to undergo historic growth and change,” she said in a statement. The company pointed out in its statement that Dianne Brandi, evp of legal and business affairs, would remain on “voluntary leave,” a position she has been in since October after it was alleged that she may have declined to take action following allegations of harassment among top executives. BuzzFeed News reported earlier this year that some staff were dismayed that Brandi had allegedly returned from voluntary leave, and was helping behind the scenes on issues like contract negotiations.
