Fox Ready for Conan

Sources tell the New York Post that Fox is set to swoop in on Conan, with talks about giving the jilted late-night host a new show to start as early as this week. Fox has long wanted to create a late-night show, though its last attempt, The Chevy Chase Show, was canceled after just four weeks in 1993. Still, Conan comes with a built-in audience, and Fox is now the top-ranked network. The Post says Fox has already begun asking local affiliates if the 11 p.m. timeslot, now mostly reserved for comedy reruns, can be cleared.
