Francesca Schiavone became the first Italian woman to win a Grand Slam title Saturday morning when she beat Samantha Stosur on the red clay of Roland Garros, 6-4, 7-6 (2). After winning the first set, the 17th seed fell 4-1 behind in the second set before fighting back to force a tiebreaker. The 29-year-old Schiavone is also the oldest woman to win her first Grand Slam since Ann Jones took Wimbledon in 1969 at 30.
