The attorneys representing the six Baltimore police officers who were charged in connection to the death of Freddie Gray want the charges to be dismissed, or have the State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby removed from the case, according to a motion filed on Friday. They claim Mosby brought the charges “in the face of threat of continued riots, protests, a city curfew and civil unrest” and that the violence caused her to practice “overzealous prosecution.” Reasons given in the motion claim Mosby and her husband will have political and personal gain, have personal relationships with witnesses and that the Gray family is a “close firend” and financial supporter of Mosby, who claims Gray’s arrest was illegal. She plans to seek homicide charges against the six officers.
