Hollywood’s Oscar after-parties were all well and good, but France may have been the place to be after silent-film sensation The Artist went home with five Academy Awards on Sunday night. President Nicolas Sarkozy got in on the action, calling leading man Jean Dujardin’s performance “dazzling.” The news made the front page of Le Monde, where a headline declared a “French triumph in Hollywood.” The Artist picked up Best Picture and Best Director as well as awards for musical score and costume design, and Dujardin took home the Best Actor statue, marking the first time the award was won by a French actor.
