A video surfaced Wednesday that shows the beheading of kidnapped French mountain climber Herve Gourdel by Algerian militants who swear their loyalty to ISIS. The 55-year-old Nice native is shown kneeling in front of the militants ISIS who militants state they will be “closer to Allah by killing this filthy Frenchman in defense of Allah’s religion.” They then address ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi: “Here are your soldiers fighting those you fight and making peace with those you make peace with.” The video appears to be a copycat of ISIS beheading videos of Americans, such as James Foley and Steven Sotloff, and British aid worker David Haines.
