How did Americans spend Valentine’s Day weekend? Apparently pretending it was Halloween: According to Screen Daily, Marcus Nispel’s remake of Friday the 13th had the biggest opening this weekend in the history of the horror genre. It grossed $42.2 million, breaking The Grudge’s previous record of $39.1 million. The box office, in general, is booming, running 22 percent ahead of what it had earned at this time last year.
