Is Google too powerful for its own good? The FTC is considering an antitrust probe of the Web-search giant, according to Bloomberg. The commission is waiting to see if the Justice Department challenges Google’s acquisition of ITA Software Inc. One antitrust law professor says the investigation could be “on par with” the FTC’s case against Microsoft. FTC Commissioner Thomas Rosch has previously said he supports a probe of Internet-search companies.
