Three top executives who oversaw Japan’s doomed Fukishima nuclear plant have been charged with negligence relating to the 2011 disaster, which unfolded after a tsunami hit the coastal facility. Radiation exposure killed 44 people and injured 13 workers. Former TEPCO Chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata and two former executives, Ichiro Takekuro and Sakae Muto, were formally charged with failing to prevent what was determined to be a “manmade disaster,” according to an investigation.
