Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi said in an audio message, which aired on state television Friday, that he may retaliate for NATO attacks on Libya by taking revenge on Europe. In the speech, he said, “If we decide, we can also take” the battle to Europe. He promised to retaliate against his enemies with “an eye for an eye.” A spokesman for the U.S. State Department downplayed the message, saying that Gaddafi often uses “overblown rhetoric.”
