Right next to statues of men who worked to expand and protect the British Empire in London’s Parliament Square, a statue of Mahatma Gandhi will be unveiled today. The location will be especially interesting as Gandhi will be placed right nearby his former nemesis Winston Churchill, who notoriously loathed Gandhi. He once called him "a seditious Middle Temple lawyer, now posing as a fakir of a type well known in the East, striding half-naked up the steps of the Vice-regal palace." The statue will be unveiled by UK Prime Minister David Cameron to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gandhi’s return to India from South Africa.
