Gannett went public Monday morning with an $815 million bid to take over Tribune Publishing, the parent company of major publications like Chicago Tribune and the Los Angeles Times. Gannett owns USA Today, the Des Moines Register, and more than 100 other smaller local media outlets. Although Tribune initially appeared reluctant to negotiate a deal, the company indicated Monday that it is willing to entertain the offer.
