Gay Marriage OK'd in Florida Keys

Same-sex couples can enjoy a slice of key lime pie as wedding cake. On Thursday, Circuit Judge Luis M. Garcia overturned Florida’s constitutional ban on gay marriage, but it only applies to the Keys. His ruling said the 2008 voter-approved ban effectively treated same-sex couples as second-class citizens and violated the U.S. Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection under the law. However, Garcia’s decision only applies to Monroe County, which includes the Florida Keys. Garcia said marriage licenses could start being issued to same-sex couples on Tuesday
