George Hamilton Looks at 70

Here’s a new memoir from someone who suffers from “one of the most advanced cases of narcissism ever recorded.” It’s Don’t Mind if I Do, a new memoir from George Hamilton, the almost 70-year-old actor who seems to have done it all—and still looks fabulous. He has a “keyboard” smile, and, after a long life of tanning, skin “the colour and texture of French-polished veal.” Don’t Mind if I Do chronicles Hamilton’s memories from early childhood to his friendships with Hollywood stars like Judy Garland, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, and Cary Grant. And then, of course, he chronicles his affairs with everyone from Elizabeth Taylor to Marilyn Monroe—whom he was “terribly intimidated” by. Yet, Hamilton says, he’s more than who he has dated. “Please don’t get the impression that I just went out with famous women.”
