President George H.W. Bush will be buried this week wearing socks that feature jets flying in formation, in accordance with his tradition of wearing flashy and striking socks with meaning, his spokesman said Monday. The socks were reportedly selected as an homage to the ex-president’s life of service. Bush, who passed away last week at 94, served as a naval aviator during WWII. The former president had a knack for wearing the right socks for any occasion, having worn socks with President Bill Clinton’s face on them after Clinton visited him, and Houston Texans-themed socks when he met the football team’s head coach. He also wore socks with stacks of books on them to his wife’s funeral, in honor of Barbara Bush’s work to promote literacy.
