German Asylum Shelter Burns in Arson

A school gym meant to be used as a shelter for asylum-seekers in Germany has burned down, in what authorities say looks like an arson attack after a weekend of far-right protests in the area. The gym was intended to hold about 130 migrants in a city west of Berlin. Germany expects as many as 800,000 people to seek asylum there by the end of the year. The head of the local state called for zero tolerance to “any form of xenophobia,” and called attacks against migrants “shameful and unworthy of Germany.”
