Will Rep. Gabrielle Giffords run for Senate? It’s difficult to imagine, as she still recovers from a gunshot wound, but The New York Times says her aides are quietly discussing a Senate bid. They held a fundraiser in Washington March 15 and even whisper behind the scene about what her campaign ads might look like. Other Democratic Senate hopefuls, meanwhile, are waiting to declare their candidacies until they hear first from Giffords, whom they figure they could not beat. Giffords had expressed interest in running for Senate before her injury. It is still unclear, however, if Giffords will desire or be capable of a run when she is released from rehabilitation in Houston.
