Giffords Coauthor Dies in Crash

TRAGEDY

Author lost control of his car.

Jeffrey Zaslow, the writer who chronicled Rep. Gabrielle Giffords recovery from being shot in the head, died in a car crash on Friday. The 53-year-old author lost control of his car in northern Michigan on a snowy road and collided with a semi. In addition to writing Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope with the congresswoman's husband, Zaslow also penned Highest Duty, about Capt. Chesley Sullenberger, the pilot who landed an airliner in the Hudson River in New York, and The Last Lecture, about Carnegie Mellon professor Randy Pausch, who later died of pancreatic cancer.
