In her first interview since the brutal Tucson shooting, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords said she will not return to Congress until she is “better.” In the interview with Diane Sawyer, which aired on 20/20, Giffords seemed to have trouble forming sentences. When asked if she would return, her response was, “No … better.” While struggling to say more, she waved her hands and repeated the word “better.” Her husband, Mark Kelly, whom she praised for being brave, confirmed her response. Giffords also revealed that she cried when she read in a newspaper that six others had died in the attacks.
