For the first time since she was shot eight days ago, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords’ condition has been upgraded from critical to serious. Doctors say she has been breathing on her own since she was shot, and now no longer needs a breathing tube. Aside from Giffords, two other victims of the Tucson shooting remain in the hospital; both are listed as in good condition.
