Omar Khadr, the Canadian citizen accused of killing a U.S. soldier with a grenade in Afghanistan in 2002 when he was 15, pleaded guilty to all charges on Monday. The exact terms of his plea agreement are unclear, though a military judge said he’ll be eligible to transfer back to Canada after the first year of his sentence. Khadr will avoid a war-crimes trial because of the agreement; his defenders had argued that he was a child soldier and that killing a soldier should not be tried as a war crime.
