Goat Kills Hiker in Washington Park

A mountain goat killed a hiker in Washington’s Olympic National Park on Saturday. The hiker, Robert Boardman, died after the goat gored him in the thigh; heroically, he told his wife and their friend to run ahead while he would try to distract the goat, which was stalking them. Apparently, the goat was known to be aggressive; park rangers had a habit of “hazing” this particular goat, shooting it with bean bags and encouraging hikers to pelt him with rocks if he got too close. The goat was shot and killed after the attack.
