Good Models vs. Evil Models

Naughty/Nice

"Despite the number of foreign-born designers showing in New York, they manage to produce little variation in the prototypical woman: she's either good or she's bad," says Cathy Horyn in the New York Times Sunday. According to Horyn, a push-pull dichotomy of good girls and bad girls has been cropping up on New York Fashion Week's Fall runways this season, but few designers have chosen to develop an image that blends the two. Ms. Horyn found Alexander Wang's naughty biker chic mode to be a bit staid, while New York's other Golden Boy, Jason Wu captured her interest with crisp yet easy silhouettes in modern color combinations. As always, Madonna/whore is in the eye of the beholder.
