What happened to their motto, “Don’t be evil”? Google CEO Eric Schmidt told The Telegraph that it was the United States that was responsible for the financial crisis. "I want to be clear here that the blame, to the degree that there was, is largely in the United States, not in Europe, not in Britain," Schmidt told the British paper as he prepares to lead the World Economic Forum, which kicks off next month. Schmidt said 2010 could be a good year for his industry, but maybe not for others. "The next stage depends on where you are. High-tech has been doing reasonably well, so in California and the places I work and live, the mood is reasonably good," Schmidt said. "But much of America, if you will the heartland, was severely injured by this with very high unemployment and no short-term recovery, it is going to be a while [getting to recovery]."
