Google has long turned a blind eye to the adult-themed (a.k.a. porny) content of some Blogger sites, but the blogging service’s parent company has decided that, while posting explicit content is fine, making money off it is crossing some sort of line. So the Internet behemoth has decided to change its terms of services, notifying all administrators of steamy-themed blogs that they better remove their pornographic ads or Google will do it for them. Blogger users unwilling to give up their adult advertisements won’t be forced to compromise, however, as Tumblr’s new owner, Yahoo, has already made clear that it welcomes pornographic content with open arms. Perhaps the first reader comment on the news report of Google’s new policy sheds some light on the old-school Blogger’s standing among the hip, new world of blogging sites: “I didn’t know Blogger was used for anything other than porn, lol.”
