Google is planning to close its shopping-comparison site for auto insurance, credit cards, and mortgages after just one year, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday. The company said in an email to partners that Google Compare would shutter on March 23, WSJ reported, citing people famliar with the matter. The service reportedly didn’t meet expectations and Google will now redirect its focus on AdWords and other innovations, according to the letter.
