Google to Launch Fashion Site

Just when you thought Google couldn’t get any bigger: The company will launch a fashion site, called Boutiques.com, on Wednesday. While the project is shrouded in secrecy, Sarah Jessica Parker will reportedly set up a “personalized shop” on the site, and Katie Holmes, Oscar de la Renta, and Cynthia Rowley are among the designers Google has approached to do the same. WWD reports the site will function like Google Search, but that it will look like “a high-end, personalized luxury boutique,” and will be “more appropriate, efficient and appealing to fashion lovers and designer brands than Google’s existing options.” The site will also reportedly incorporate a big social-media component, and drive users to online retailers.
