Seth Klarman, a billionaire mega-donor who usually contributes to the Republican Party and its candidates, is defecting from his party this cycle over recent “shockingly unacceptable” comments that Donald Trump has made. Klarman has decided instead to back Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee. “His words and actions over the last several days are so shockingly unacceptable in our diverse and democratic society that it is simply unthinkable that Donald Trump could become our president,” Klarman said. This cycle, Klarman has donated to PACs supporting former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. His decision is just the latest in a string of defections from senior GOP leaders, including former top aides to Christie and Bush.
