Is this the Republican Party's version of a victory dance? If the GOP wins back a majority in this November's midterm elections, it plans to open a string of probes targeting the administration and Democratic policies much like the onslaught on the Clinton administration in the 1990s. Said Lanny Davis, a deputy White House counsel who lived through Clinton’s trials: "I actually think it will be even worse than what happened to Bill Clinton, because of the animosity they already feel for President Obama." Politico has listed six likely investigations. The probes will probably target the White House's efforts to push out Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate Joe Sestak, the administration's various bailouts (from the AIG bailout to the government's takeover of GM and Chrysler). According to Kurt Bardella, spokesperson for Republican California representative Darrell Issa, "How acrimonious things get really depend on how willing the administration is in accepting our findings [and] responding to our questions."
