Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) said on Sunday that ex-White House Chief Strategist Stephen Bannon “had to go” because he “had become a part of the problem.” Bannon returned to his role as executive chairman of Breitbart on Friday after parting ways with President Trump. “The White House has just not been functioning. There’s been leaks coming out, one faction is undermining another,” King said on AM 970 in New York. “He was publicly disagreeing with the president’s policy on North Korea. And this was the policy of President Trump, Secretary Mattis, Secretary Tillerson, and the chairman of the national security council Gen. McMaster,” King added, referring to Bannon’s interview with the left-leaning magazine The American Prospect during which he declared that there was no military solution for the crisis with North Korea.
