Illinois’s Mark Kirk became the second Republican senator to publicly endorse gay marriage, saying that a recent stroke changed his views. “Our time on this earth is limited, I know that better than most,” Kirk wrote in a statement. “Life comes down to who you love and who loves you back—government has no place in the middle.” Kirk has a moderate record, including recent support for gun control.
