The new Tea Party-elected members of Congress are proving every bit as unruly as some expected: Three GOP bills failed on the House floor this week and in a closed-door meeting, Tea Party members demanded GOP leaders add $100 billion to their pledge to cut $40 billion in spending. The GOP leadership had expected the bills to be so uncontroversial that it brought two of them to the floor in an expedited process that requires a two-thirds majority. “We have been in the majority four weeks,” House Majority Leader Boehner said. “We are not going to be perfect every day.” Christopher Lee, presumably, isn’t making things any easier.
