It's not just the American people who are looking to President Obama for guidance about the recession: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown hopes he'll "bond" with the president over their respective economic recovery packages, the Times of London reports. During his two-day trip to Washington next week, Brown and Obama are making a special address to a joint session of Congress. Brown's political standing has slipped due to his handling of the economic crisis. Downing Street wishes he can return home from an Obama pow-wow with renewed popularity.
