Greece’s parliament voted on Sunday in favor of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ proposed referendum on bailout terms. The referendum will take place on July 5. EU officials have rejected a request to extend the bailout past Tuesday’s payment deadline until the referendum. This means that Athens will likely default and makes the possibility of a Greek exit from the euro more likely. The parliamentary vote saw Tsipras’ left wing party aligned with the far right Golden Dawn.
