That’s about what the Viking god drama Thor brought in on its first day in April. In second place, Jim Carrey tried out another box-office stalwart—penguins. His children’s book adaptation Mr. Popper’s Penguins started with started $6.5 million, on its way to a mediocre first weekend of about $18 million.
