Violence in the anti-government protests in Thailand hasn't abated for weeks. On Thursday, they took a grisly turn when grenade blasts killed three people and injured at least 70 others in Bangkok. Five M-79 grenades were fired from launchers. Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva called an emergency security meeting after the attack. Five suspects have been arrested, but protesters denied any knowledge of the attacks. Streets were empty of commuters and travelers, and filled instead with troops and coils of razor wire, but thousands of redshirt protesters remained camped behind barricades and pointed bamboo staves. The redshirts have paralyzed the center of Bangkok since early April.
