A man who escaped from a North Carolina prison Saturday was apprehended by authorities the following day as he trudged along Highway 52 that evening. In a twist eerily similar to a three-week escapee hunt in New York, officials say a female prison worker helped Kristopher McNeil—whose convictions include second degree murder—in his escape. Corrections officer Kendra Lynette Miller has been charged with sex with an inmate, harboring a fugitive and aiding and abetting a fugitive. McNeil was spotted several times near Winston-Salem before being caught, and officials say they believe someone on the outside also helped his escape.
