Gulf, Mexico on Hurricane Watch

Nature's Wrath

Alex could push oil inland.

As if things couldn't get worse in the Gulf, both Mexico and a swath of the Gulf Coast in southern Texas have been put on a hurricane watch. Tropical Storm Alex has regained its strength and could morph into a Category 3 hurricane before making landfall later this week. According to forecasters, the storm could complicate the mess in the Gulf; though Alex isn't expected to reach the site of the massive oil spill off Louisiana's coast, its powerful winds may push the slick further inland. Alex is expected to transform into a hurricane on Tuesday, and by Wednesday, its winds could reach 120 miles per hour. The storm has already caused deadly flooding and landslides in Central America.
