Milwaukee jurors ruled against a local gun shop late Tuesday afternoon in a lawsuit, finding Badger Guns liable for the shooting of two police officers. A lawyer for the officers argued that the gun store had “failed miserably” in its duty to protect the public when it sold the gun used in the violent crime six years ago. Badger’s lawyer countered that the store could not have known the intention of the buyer, and that the blame ultimately lies with Julius Burton, the man who pulled the trigger. The wounded cops were awarded $5 million.
