A gunman walked to the podium at a Florida school board meeting Monday, spray-painted a “V” with a circle around it (the logo from the movie V for Vendetta), and opened fire on the board, miraculously hitting no one. The gunman, Clay Duke, accused the board of firing his wife. The board tried to talk him down, offering to find his wife a new job, and the superintendent volunteered to stay and let the rest of the board leave, saying he would have been the one to fire Duke’s wife. Later, a board member snuck up on Duke and whacked him with her purse. The standoff ended when a security guard entered and shot Duke, and Duke then shot himself. As the superintendent pointed out to Duke, and a note on Duke’s Facebook page seems to affirm, suicide was Duke’s intention all along.
