Several people were shot by an individual at a strip mall in Houston early Monday morning, according to the Houston Police Department. At least nine people were injured in the shooting, one of whom is in critical condition. The gunman was hit by officers and later pronounced dead. Houston’s police chief said at a press conference later Monday morning that the gunman was a lawyer whose law firm was dealing with “issues.” Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said the gunman “was either fired or had a bad relationship with this law firm.” Officials said they are probing whether this led the gunman to open fire. Police first received a call about the incident at 6:29 a.m. CT. A bomb squad was brought in to examine the suspect’s car. “I literally heard the gunshots pass my face,” a witness to the shooting told ABC13.
