Multiple gunmen stormed Kabul’s Intercontinental Hotel on Saturday and began firing on guests, according to numerous reports. The attack on the five-star hotel—frequented by foreign visitors—comes after the U.S. Embassy warned extremists would likely target hotels in the area. Heavy gunfire was reported from inside the hotel, where between three and four gunmen were battling security forces after reportedly taking hostages. A spokesman for Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry said there appeared to be suicide bombers inside the building. No details were immediately available on the number of casualties or hostages.
