While those living amid the debris of the Haitian earthquake can physically search for their loved ones, Haitian Americans are seeking information about their family members without much luck. Those Haitians in America who haven't heard from their close friends and family who avidly use online communication Facebook and Twitter are unnerved by the silence. "I just can't contact nobody," one Haiti-born woman living in the D.C. area told The Washington Post. "It just rings and hangs up. I have my cousins, my nieces, my brothers, uncle, aunt. I don't hear anything. I just follow CNN." Those watching their televisions can hardly recognize the neighborhoods they grew up in that the quake so badly destroyed.
