South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has revealed little about a possible successor for Sen. Jim DeMint—except that it won’t be her. In an updated statement following DeMint’s announcement Thursday that he would leave office at the end of the month, Haley said she wanted to “make two things clear”: first, she will certainly not appoint herself to fill his seat, and second, she’ll appoint someone with “the same philosophy of government” that she and DeMint share. So much for an update.
