Jeremy Reeds, the felon whose mugshot went viral after it was posted on the Facebook account of California’s Stockton Police Department, now has a fundraising page set up in his name. Reeds’s mother, Katherine Angier, is hoping to raise up to $25,000 with the “Free Jeremy” page (as of Friday afternoon, it had raised $1,180). “He’s my son and he is so sweet,” Angier said. “Please help him to get a fair trial or else he’ll be railroaded…He has a job and he was on his way to work. With no gang affiliations, as per two of the charges—he has old tattoos, which causes him to be stereotyped.” 30-year-old Meeks (who is married, by the way) was arrested on Wednesday in a multi-agency raid that included help from the FBI, U.S. marshal’s office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and a countywide task force. He is reportedly facing illegal gun possession and gang-related charges.
