Hannah Anderson Found in ‘Pretty Good Shape’

Kidnapping suspect James Lee DiMaggio killed.

Hannah Anderson, 16, was recovered alive and relatively unharmed in Idaho on Saturday while James Lee DiMaggio, the man suspected of kidnapping her, was shot and killed in the dramatic rescue. While law enforcement officials did not release details on how DiMaggio was killed, San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said Anderson appeared to be in “pretty good shape.” A multi-state manhunt for Anderson began last week when the bodies of her mother and brother were found at DiMaggio’s burning home east of San Diego. A man riding horseback encountered Anderson and DiMaggio on Wednesday, but did not notice anything amiss except that they appeared unprepared for the remote. When he returned home, he saw the Amber Alert and notified authorities, who then found DiMaggio’s car on Friday and resumed hunting the rugged area until they found DiMaggio and Anderson.
