A Hawaii-bound flight was diverted to LAX on Wednesday after an “unruly passenger” threatened to “take someone behind the woodshed” because he didn’t want to pay $12 for a blanket. A 66-year-old man aboard the Hawaiian Airlines flight from Las Vegas reportedly became agitated after asking for a blanket and being told it would cost him $12. Officer Rob Pedregon, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Airport Police Department, said the man demanded to speak with the airline’s corporate office about the blanket, and he was able to do so with an in-flight call. But he then told a company representative that he “would like to take someone behind the woodshed for this.” The flight was then promptly diverted to LAX over the “unruly passenger,” Pedregon said. The passenger was met by police and federal authorities upon arrival at LAX at 10:20 a.m., though he was allowed to go on his way and later caught a different flight.
