Hawaii to Become First State With Gun-Owner Database
Hawaii will become the first U.S. state to require gun owners to be registered into a database when Gov. David Ige signs a bill into law Friday. The database will be kept by the FBI, and the agency will be notified when someone on the list is arrested anywhere in the U.S. Gun-rights groups like the National Rifle Association have long opposed such measures. In addition to setting up the database, Ige signed a bill that bars those convicted of sexual assault or stalking from owning a firearm.
