HGTV Host's Life Saved by Viewer

The co-host of HGTV's Flip or Flop claims his life was saved by a concerned viewer of the show. Tarek El Moussa, who hosts the real estate show with his wife Christina, was contacted by fan Ryan Read, a trained nurse, who spotted a lump on the presenter's neck during a 2013 episode. “This is not a joke. I'm a registered nurse," the note said. "I noticed that the host Tarek has a large nodule on his thyroid, and he needs to have it checked out.” After initially being told the lump was of no concern, Tarek revisited the case after he received the email. A second opinion revealed that the lump was cancerous and had spread to his lymph nodes. After three years of treatment, his cancer is now in remission.
