Summit 2013

Hillary Clinton Joins 2013 Women in the World Summit

Clinton will join some of the world's most inspirational women at our fourth Women in the World Summit.

In one of her first appearances since leaving the State Department, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be joining the Women in the World Summit to be held April 4 and 5 at New York’s Lincoln Center. The annual summit, now in its fourth year, illuminates global issues through the voices of leaders, activists, artists, and pioneers who are confronting the most urgent challenges faced by women and girls around the world.

Hillary Clinton has appeared at every Women in the World since the summit’s inception. At the 2012 summit, Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep introduced Clinton with a tribute to her policy priorities: “making those words—‘women’s rights are human rights’—into something every leader in every country now knows are a lynchpin of American policy.” This year, the former secretary of State—who is scheduled to speak on Friday morning, April 5—will join a program featuring Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Ambassador Susan E. Rice, former Ambassador-at-Large for Women’s Issues Melanne Verveer, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the U.S. Sherry Rehman, Nobel Peace Prize nominee Susana Trimarco, South African political activist Dr. Mamphela Ramphele, and Diane von Furstenberg. Tom Hanks—who stars in Lucky Guy, about to open on Broadway—will offer a special tribute to the play’s late author, legendary writer and director Nora Ephron.
